The Pensacola Hawg Hunters fished their November Tournament on the Tensaw River out of Cliff's landing. Eighteen anglers participated on this windy, bright day. Why are the conditions always changing on tournament day? The air and water temperatures hovered around 62 degrees all day but the wind made it feel a whole lot colder, we had a north wind with a falling tide, needless to say the water was doing its best to leave the area. My partner Jim Bailey, Sr. and I started the day in Lake Negro, to our surprise we didn't have a lot of company, the water was gorgeous! Clear and clean, unlike the main river which was quite muddy. Unfortunately we didn't have many bites, one to be exact, which produced my only fish. I will let Jim tell you that story. At weigh-in we had 15 Anglers bring fish to the scales. Jim Bailey, JR. Was able to find the fish weighing in 5 fish at 12.55 pounds! He had lunker of the day with a 5.25 pounder. YES my heart was in my throat as he weighed it in, but alas my 5.65 still holds, one more month to go.
Tom Buck was also in the money with second place, he also had a five fish limit at 8.65 pounds, additionally he had a nice bass that weighed in at 4 pounds! Third place went to Fred Raby with three fish that tipped the scales at 6.25 pounds. Welcome back Mark Sullivan, Mark is a former member who fished as a guest this tournament.
The entire club is praying for a speedy recovery for Jim Bolleter who was injured Saturday night in a car accident. Get Well Soon Jim!
