OLD BUSINESS:
The "Raffle" drawing held Wednesday night was won by B. Presley from Foley, Al. Thanks to all those who participated in the selling of tickets and to Billy Blackwell for having them made up. Good job.
The 50/50 draw was once again won by Fred Raby, must be nice to be so lucky. The "fish-off" is just around the corner, October 8th and 9th to be exact, which is on a Friday and Saturday. Those going up on Thursday need to let the club Treasurer know by the September meeting if at all possible, so make your plans as soon as possible.
NEW BUSINESS:
Lay Lake is our clubs next tournament, it will be a two-day tournament with a 4 p.m. weigh-in.
There will be a raffle for the complimentary room that is available to the club. September 4th and 5th,
(Saturday and Sunday), is the tournament.
Some will be going up on Thursday, so make your plans now if you plan on doing the same.
Also, if you would like to hold an office position on the E-board, contact one of the E-board members as soon as possible, give it a try, you might like it.
July Tournament:
The August tournament was held on the Choctahatchee River out of the Simpler's Landing. There were 18 members and two guests present to fish at safe daylight. A cold front had blown in the day before making it a very pleasant day compared to what it had been, 10 to 15 mph winds kept the skeeters and the yellow flies off for the most part, the water looked good and the river was just a little low, a good day on the water for once.
A few boats went North and most went South, hoping to catch a limit for the day, as it turned out, only two limits were brought to the scales at the weigh-in, most everyone caught fish but it wasn't easy to catch a limit of keepers. Worms, crank baits and some top water baits proved to be helpful, and some jigs.
At the weigh-in, our two guests, Dora Thomley and Don Potter also weighed in fish, Dora had two that weighed in at 2.14 lbs and Don had one that weighed 1.75 lbs. Good job.
Billy Blackwell took first place with a nice limit and also had the big fish for the day, his total weighed 9.57 lbs.
Rich Cornelius also had a limit, good enough for second place, that weighed 8.22 lbs.
Third place was Wayne Thomley with four fish weighing in at 7.14 lbs. Good job guys.
