OLD BUSINESS:
The April meeting and tournament was held one week early due to Easter weekend. The 50/50 draw this month went to Troy "there's one" Beedle. The auction for the month of April had an assortment of crank baits, top water plugs, rattletraps and a rod and reel game. Congratulations to the proud new owners, Billy Blackwell. Wayne Cox and Walter McCartney. If anyone has anything that they would like to auction off at the next meeting, be sure and bring it. Every little bit helps and it's for a good cause.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was some discussion about the tournament sites for the month's of August and September. The August site will be checked out by Frank Kelly and will get with the E-board on the matter. The tournament site for Lay lake will stay the same as originally scheduled. There was no other new business discussed.
April Tournament:
The April tournament was held out of Wind Creek state park at Lake Martin, there were 18 members present to fish at safe daylight. The cold mornings were really not expected, but most everyone had packed enough clothes to get them through the weekend. The wind didn't let up the entire tournament, actually, it just got worse. Very few largemouth were brought to the scales, it was the spots that were hungry this time, mostly on Carolina rigs and crank baits. Fred Raby weighed in a nice largemouth on day one that tipped the scales at 5.22 lbs; I believe it was caught on a top water plug.
It was good enough for big fish honors on day one. Day two, the big fish pot went to Wayne Thomley, he had a nice spotted bass that weighed 2.82 lbs. Tony Boyett was the only one to have bagged a seven fish limit both days and it landed him in first place for the tournament. Cliff Armstrong took second place with a total of 17.14 lbs. Third went to Rich Cornelius with a total of 16.85 lbs. No one landed in the also fished column this time.
