Message From The President:

Late January and early February is a very interesting time for bass fishing in our area. If the winter has been mild the bass will be starting to spawn in the warmer waters, usually in the north or northwest areas of coves and lakes.
The angle of the sun at this time of year warms those waters first. This is also a time of transition for bass.
Many are feeding in preparation for the spawn and can be caught on a variety of lures. Target breaks that are near spawning areas with spinner baits and small crank baits. Of course when fishing this time of the year use extreme care with the fish and release them immediately so they are uninjured and healthy for the spawn. Also, this time of the year can be very productive in delta areas with spinners and finesse worms. Don't be fooled thinking that the fish won't bite this time of the year.
Give 'em a try and you might be pleasantly surprised!

Special Notice

Guys the management at Fournaris Bros. has brought it to our attention again that we are not purching enough food and drinks at our monthly meetings.
We only purchased $101 in food and drink this month. They want us to purchase a minimum of $150.
Also we are not tipping the young lady enough to pay for the time she spends serving us.

January Tournament:

At daybreak 17 Hawg Hunters and
2 prospective member Ron Bridges and Buddy Yates were found at Smith’s Fish Camp on the Escambia River.
There was a slight misting in the air as everyone launched their boats, but the sprinkles of rain did not come until later in the morning.
Morning temperatures in the upper fifties barely reached into the lower sixties by mid-day.
For the most part there was very little wind to contend with. The tide was almost at a dead low at the start of the day with the tide turning back in later that afternoon and before I forget!!
It was a tough day of fishing.
When it was over only 12 of the 19 anglers had fish to bring to the scales and 7 anglers got to be listed in the
ALSO FISHED category.
In total, only 23 keeper fish were brought to the scales for a weight of 26.99 lbs.
