Old Buisness:

The November meeting minutes were not read at December's meeting because the meeting was held in the main dining room. Old Business from the November meeting is as follows: The fishing schedule was announced, any changes will be made only in emergencies such as closing of scheduled ramp. June, July, and August are confirmed as 2 PM weigh-in tournament times. All protests are to be handled IAW with tournament rules. The E-board will look at possible actions to reduce the # of dead fish and also how to dispose of them. 50/50 raffle to start up January (we did). Lee asked about past hotel selections for 2 day tournaments, there were no objections so he will continue to use the same ones. Mack put on a couple of FYIs…Cooter's pond has a steep ramp and Yamahas and Mercurys have water cooled voltage regulators. (he learned from experience and shared his story). At the December meeting a new member was voted in - Glenn Kittrell who immediately won his first tournament.

New Buisness:

The awards banquet was held at Mesquite Charlies but there were some problems with reserving a banquet room which Kevin discussed. The E-board will meet before the next meeting to discuss specifically: 1) Dead fish disposal, 2) Shirt/hat policy, and 3) A March tournament function. Lee discussed a possible alternative place to stay at Apalachicola which would be cheaper than the Rancho Inn, he is looking into it. Mack is having a BYOB Super Bowl party at his house on Feb 4th (coincidently that is Super Bowl Sunday). Some of the top six finishers for 2006 were not able to attend the awards banquet and their awards were presented at the meeting. Congratulations to:
1st Place - Brian Metcalf
2nd Place - Lee Brannon
3rd Place - Pete Potter
(who also had big fish of the year)
4th Place - Dave Dyess
5th Place - Jere Jaillite
6th Place - Mack Cramer

January Tournament:

This was John Buck's week…

Tournament Winner
John Buck

he took home the pot for the 50/50 raffle and swept the tournament with the most overall weight and the lunker of the day. Congratulations John…

2nd. Place
Jim Bailey Sr.
Jim Bailey Sr. made a good run at him but was about 1 fish short overall and a tenth of pound light for big fish but overall still a good day. There was lots more fishing and way less catchin' on this tough day on the Blackwater.

3rd Place
Mack Cramer

4th Place
Dave Dyess

The other 4 folks that put fish in the live well was Mack Cramer, Dave Dyess, Pete Potter and Lee Brannon. That is less than half of the fisherman that went on the hunt. Overall the weather conditions weren't too bad. Of course I am no expert but it seems to me like the fish just weren't in a biting mood. As much tackle as was thrown at them all day, Shirley there was fish where the bait was. Perhaps it is time to lodge a formal complaint with the Bass fish union for not upholding their end of the contract. We as Bass fishermen do our part by dedicatingly getting up early to get as much time on the water as possible and agree to take all possible measures to minimize harm to the Bass we catch and then safely return them to the lake/river. The Bass are supposed to provide a little more support than was experienced on this day…
(just my observation).
There is always next month…I am looking forward to seeing ya'll on the Tensaw River in February.
