The October 2002 meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at 7:00 p.m. on October 16, 2002 The meeting was held at the Seafood Shanty on Hwy 29 and was presided over by President Kevin Simmons.
There were 28 members present.

Members Of The Board:

President
Kevin Simmons
Vice President/Treasure
Kevin Simmons
Secretary
Rich Cornelius
Tournament Director
Neil Springstead
Asst. Tournament Director
Mack Cramer

Old Business:

Thanks to everyone that showed up for the club picnic, we all had a great time and the food was good as usual. Special thanks to Mrs Potter once again for those outstanding brownies. Also, a special thanks to those who done the cooking. Those who missed the picnic well, maybe next year. Thanks to all of those from the club members and their families for organizing the picnic.
At the start of the October meeting,
there were no new nominations to run for any club office, Jack Maher declined his nomination to run for club President.
Remember, those who still need to pay their membership dues need to do so by the November meeting in order to be in good standings for the 2003 season, if you know you cant be at the meeting pick up the phone and call someone, make arrangements to have your dues paid for you.

New Business:

The 2003 season club office positions (E-Board) were voted on. Congratulations to the following people:
President
Dave Dyess
Vice President/Treasure
Pete Potter
Secretary
Rich Cornelius

Tournament Director
Neil Springstead
Asst. Tournament Director
John Buck

Rich Cornelius and Neil
Springstead were voted on and retained by acclimation.
First of all, we would all like to thank the outgoing (E-Board), Kevin Simmons for doing an outstanding job of being our club treasurer and taking over the position as club President, great job Kevin. Secondly, Mack Cramer for doing a great job as Assistant Tournament Dir. and for volunteering to do the cooking on our two-day tournaments.
He ought to be a chef.
It's time for someone to step up to the plate and volunteer to be the chef for the upcoming season, the club voted to buy the equipment in order to be able to have cook-outs at our two-day and split tournaments. Everyone enjoys the food, the fellowship and the laughs, so lets try and keep it going. I'm sure other members would be willing to assist in the setup, clean- up, etc.
Also at the meeting, the club voted on the proposed changes to our rules, by-laws and constitution. There were 16 proposed changes submitted, 9 of which were passed. They will be updated and copies available at the next meeting for those who would like a copy.

October Tournament:

The October tournament was held at Miller's Ferry out of Ellis Island Landing. The first day of the tournament was great weather wise, just some fog that delayed a few boaters intentions. The water had a light stain and power was being generated, the fishing should have been great but the bite was slow and the little fish were on the prowl. Only two limits were bagged on the first day.
Terry Smith and Brian Metcalf shared the big fish pot on day one with a 3.50 pounder.

October Tournament:

After day one weigh-in, Brian Metcalf was leading the tournament with 9.15lbs.
Day two was better for the morning take-off, the fog wasn't near as bad.
We all were hoping the fish would turn on but for some reason it seemed the bite just got worse. Those fish sure can be finicky, anyway, at the day-two weigh-in, no limits were bagged and almost half of the club had nothing to weigh in. Fred Raby had the big fish on day two, a nice 3.85 pounder and his only other keeper was also nice.

It was enough weight to edge out the day one leader and to win the tournament with a total of 14.65lbs. Great job Fred.
