New Business:

The club is planning another picnic for the near future.
Pete Potter is going to see if he can reserve the Blue Angel Recreational Park. This is the park that we had the picnic at last year. The date and time are still to be determined, but once the date is set, be ready to pick something to bring to the picnic. Last years picnic was a great time with all the family's and friends.
Let's try to make this one just as good if not better.
Don't forget that we are going to Miller's Ferry next month, so be sure to make your reservations. There is currently $620 in this years "Fish-Off" pot.
We have $1154 in the Special Fund, and $200 is slated to go to the picnic
. The two "Boo-Ray" pots are as follows: 6 lb - $1226,
4 lb - $80.

March Tournament:

The April tournament was held on the Tensaw River out of the Cliff's Landing. There were twenty-five Hawg Hunters and one guest present to fish when the Tournament Director blasted us off. The weather, one might say, was very foggy. The skies were partly cloudy, but there was definitely no way that we were able to see that sky until about nine o'clock. The temperatures ranged from the mid 60's to the low 80's. Once the fog was burned off the day was very nice and sunny. At blast off there were a lot of boats that were staying near the bank to see where they were.
Well there were a few boats that got turned around and were heading the wrong direction.
Two boats claimed that they were headed North and before they realized it they had actually made there way quite a ways down South. With the heavy fog on hand one might of thought that everyone would have had there running lights on, but there were many smaller boats that were running in the River that did not have there lights on.

March Tournament:

Navigating the River was difficult to say the least. All Hawg Hunters that had GPS units claimed that they had paid for themselves during there adventures. Well let's get down to some fish stories. This tournament was one of the worst tournaments that the Hawg Hunters have had in a long time. There were only 30 fish weighed in for 38.45 lbs. Most fish were caught on soft jerk baits and Texas rigged worms. The day was tough for a lot of Hawg Hunters, with only half the field able to put anything in the livewell. Brian Metcalf and Dave Dyess were able to put together each a limit of fish, which were the only two limits of fish weighed in for the day. Brian Metcalf, fishing by himself because his partner for the day didn't show up at the launch, topped the field with his limit of fish weighing in at 8.20 lbs. Brian also had lunker for the day which was 2.50 lbs. John Buck brought four nice fish to the scales that weighed 7.10 lbs for second place. Dave Dyess's limit of fish weighed in at 6.25 lbs which was good enough for third place. Jim Bailey Sr. weighed in three fish for 3.25 lbs. Mack Cramer had two fish for 2.30 lbs and Neil Springstead had one for 1.70 lbs to round out the top six. There were two Hawg Hunters that miss measured there fish so they ended up forfeiting those fish and there biggest fish. Need to make sure that you measure them close ones with the mouth closed and butted up against the end of the board. Great job goes out to Brian, John and especially Dave. Dave you have definitely fully recovered from your setback and I am glad to see that for you, keep up the good work. For the rest of us it was just a day out on the River to enjoy the sunshine because this was the best weather that we have had at a tournament this year. Until next month, see you on the water and good luck fishing.
