Message from the President:
Hey guys, don't forget to say Hi to Dave Dyess, I understand he may be coming home from the hospital on Friday the 29th. Reports are that he is doing better and has a great attitude, in fact Dave says he will be at the next tournament. Way to go Dave. The "Special Fund" now stands at $933.00 thanks to the great participation at the last meeting (especially re. my whistle). Our goal for the "Special Fund" is to have $2000.00 by the end of October 2001. And we can do it with the sale of the "gas" raffle tickets. Remember, this is your money to be used for club functions that benefit all members. It will be my great pleasure to hand this fund over to the next President. Last but not least, get yourself ready for the Claiborne Lake tournament next month. Start doing your homework now on how to get there and how to fish it when you do get there. Until the next meeting, keep those lines wet.
See you on the water.
Wally
P.S. More of you guys should fish the scrub tournaments on most weekends. Seems like its always the same 5 or 6 guys fishing. Come on you Hawgs, join in and fish with us. Its great fun and good practice. Don't wait for someone to call you, get on the phone and call around to find out who is fishing and where.
You will be glad you did.
Wally

Minutes of the Meeting:
The June 2001 meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at 7:00 p.m. on June 20, 2001. The meeting was held at the Seafood Shanty on Hwy 29 and was presided over by President Wally Cassiano.
There were 25 members present.
Old Business:
Last months tournament was held at Miller's Ferry and there was a life saving adventure that took place. A local fisherman was setting a net out to catch some dinner for his family. The net was located in a trash can;
the fisherman proceeded to pull the net out of the can. As he was pulling the net out of the can, his wife started the motor in gear. This caused the fisherman and the net to fall overboard.
The fisherman's feet became entangled in the net; which pulled him under a couple of times.
The wife threw him a life jacket, which kept him above water long enough for Jeff Weaver and Randy Anderson to arrive on the scene. Jeff and Randy were able to maneuver there boat to get the fisherman out of the water.
Once the fisherman was out of the water they untangled his feet and let him rest on the back of there boat. Thank you very much Jeff and Randy for saving the life of that fisherman.

New Business:
One of our fellow Hawg Hunters is in the hospital, because he has suffered a stroke. Mr. Dave Dyess is in good spirits and is
doing much better.
He is in rehabilitation and progressing well. Good Luck Dave, and we all know that you will pull through fine.
Please remember to drink plenty of fluids and not just sodas,
when fishing these summer tournaments. Your body will become dehydrated very quickly in this heat. There was a motion made that the Hawg Hunters would not take over the Top Six tournament. The motion passed.
There is currently $828 in the "Fish-Off" and $648 in the
"Boo- Ray Pot" The following members must participate in the following tournaments to be eligible for the "Fish Off": Randall Anderson 2, Jim Bailey Jr. 2, Stacy Blackburn 1, Randy Cole 1, Dave Dyess 1, and Frank Kelly 1.This months lucky winners for the raffle were Dwayne Mills-Lure Bag and knives, Brian Metcalf-Belt Buckle, Mack Cramer-Knives, Stacy Blackburn-Belt Buckle and coins, Jack Maher-Knives, Charles Cetti- Knives, and Mike Tyson-Knives congratulations to all . As far as the auction went this month, it was the most interesting it has ever been. The list of articles bided on and winners are as follows: Knife- Kevin Holland, Monopoly Game- Brian Metcalf, Talking Jigs-Jack Maher Hat-Frank Kelly, Hat-Tony Boyette, CB-Jim Bailey Sr. and the last item that went up for auction was a blind item. Paul Sullivan decided he wanted to see what was wrapped up in the silver paper, when he opened it everyone; especially Wally, was surprised to see Wally's whistle.
