Message from the President:

Hey guys, what a great fishing trip Lake Martin was. I believe we all had a great time. Remember, if you have anything you can donate to our raffle and auction for the 2001 Top Six Fund please let me know. If I know in advance I can fit whatever it is into the overall scheme of things. REMINDER: Article II, Section 2, Para b. states: "Members FAILING TO ATTEND ONE HALF OF ANNUAL CLUB FUNCTIONS or FAILING TO ATTEND SIX CONSECUTIVE CLUB FUNCTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE will result in removal from membership." As such, I regret to report that the following people have been dropped from membership; Jim Bray and Stan Wright. Until the next meeting, keep your lines tight.

April Tournament:

The April tournament was held on Lake Martin out of the Wind Creek State Park Landing. There were 19 Hawg Hunters present to fish at safe daylight. The air temperature was in the mid 60's, the skies were clear for Saturday. The water level was close to full pool and stained. Quite a few members went up on Friday to practice for the weekend event. Just about everyone found spotted bass everywhere they went, but a few members had found some heavier largemouth bass. Saturday was beautiful with a little chill in the air, but it quickly warmed up with the clear skies. The high temperature for the day reached near 80. At safe daylight there were 10 boats that went all different directions. Everyone was throwing something different, fish were caught on many different baits such as: top water, spinner baits, crank baits, Carolina rigs, Texas rigs, Jerk baits, and floating worms. At weigh-in their were 73 fish weighed in for a total of 86.75 lbs. Jere Jaillite brought in a nice limit of fish that weighed 9.20 lbs that was anchored by the lunker of the day weighing in at 3.65 lbs. Jere's limit would prove to be the heaviest stringer for the weekend. Lee Brannon brought 5 fish to the scales for a total weight of 7.50 lbs and Dave Dyess also brought in a limit of fish weighing 7.05 lbs to round out the top three. There were 10 limits of fish weighed in fos Saturday. Saturday evening everyone was trying to put a game plan together to try and find some heavier largemouth bass. The spotted bass were plentiful, but had no weight to them. Sunday morning we were greeted with another beautiful day. There were 64 fish brought to the scales for a total of 79.80 lbs.
