PENSACOLA HAWG HUNTERS
TOURNAMENT REPORT
MARCH 18, 2006

The Hawg Hunters fished the March tournament on the Alabama River at Millers Ferry near Camden, Alabama. The weather was cool as a weak cold front pushed through the night before the tournament.

Due to commitments at work I was unable to attend but I have gathered some tournament gossip from several members who did get there.
There were 8 boats with 16 members participating. The reports I have received indicate that the bite was tough*what's new!
It seems that we've been able to predict the cold fronts with the tournament schedule better than the weatherman do with their forecasts.

The gossip has it that several boats had mechanical or other problems that hindered them fishing the tournament. In particular, Dan Nash found a nasty piece of rebar and gouged a large hole through the bottom of his Stratos. He and his partner managed to make it back to a landing where they beached it and found assistance. Thankfully no one was injured. I guess that will probably get him a strong nomination for the slammer.

While the cold front put a damper on many fish, 3 guys limits brought to the scales. Brian Metcalf took 1st with a limit weighing 13.79 lbs. EW (Earth Worm) Coombs took 2nd with a limit for 10.08 lbs. Third place went to Jere Jaillite who had 3 fish weighing 6.19 lbs. Dan Nash managed 3 fish for 6.17 lbs. to take 4th place. "Sandbar" Lee Brannon had the lunker a 4.89 lbs. The total weight for the tournament was 74.83 lbs. with 16 members fishing and a 4.7 lbs average catch per fisherman. Not being there, I am unable to say what the best producing baits were, but I know that E W really likes to toss a worm and Lee has been know to throw a worm or crank bait once in a while.

Our next tournament is at Lake Martin and I hope to be there so I'll have a better report to issue. This will be a 2 day event so make your plans to attend. Maybe we'll even get lucky and catch the weather in our favor for a change.
