The May tournament for Panhandle bass club was held at Millers Ferry on the Alabama River.
The weather was great and we had a good turn out with fishermen and guests.

The water was just a little high and still pretty stained. A lot of fish were located on Friday by those who prefished. Crankbaits, worms and buzz baits seemed to be the baits of choice.

I had found fish on Friday, some good ones, but I could not get the bite on Saturday (imagine that!). Artie fished with me and he had six nice keepers by 10:30 a. m. We moved! About 11:15 I got my first bite and landed a good keeper on a junebug baby brush hog. By then I had gotten some reports and it seemed like a lot of fish were being caught. Somewhere.

When we got to the weigh in we found 9 limits including the one by Artie (yes he beat me). Chris Malena was third with 7 for 11.14, Rich was second 7 for 11.28 and Wayne Cox won with 7 fish for 11.61 pounds. Big fish Billy Blackwell came in with lunker at 3.61. Paca Craws, crank baits and buzz baits were the reported pattern.

It was a great tournament with good weather and no real incidents, even though it was reported that Rich had to rob a battery from a bank fisherman to crank his motor and barely make the weigh in.

Keep Your Line Wet!!
