Panhandle Bass Club fished Lake Seminole last week and, finally had an overall good weekend weather wise. At least we didn't have to break any ice to get to the water. There was a good wind and the lake got pretty rough at times Saturday, but everyone managed to stay safe.
Eighteen fishermen showed up to catch 81 fish totaling 191.42 pounds. Limits were scarce but some nice fish were caught. Two over 6 pounds one each by Walter McCartney, and one by Wayne Thomley.
Steve Graham won it with 10 fish weighing 24.29 pounds, Cliff Armstrong was second 10fish weighting 20.54 and Wayne Cox was third with 9 at 19.51.
The water up the Hooch was still stained, but backwaters are clearing. The Flint was clearer and of course Spring Creek was clear. Reports were that the fish were doing what they do. Some staging, some bedding and some coming off the beds. Spinnerbaits were strong along with rattle traps. Stick-O's and lizards worked on the beds. Fish were caught all over the lake. Flats held the bedding fish, and most other fish came from the drops near the flats.
This is the first real good weekend we have been able to enjoy and the fish cooperated pretty well. No major incidents, no stump connections
the grass is still there and it will cause your engine to overheat so be aware if you get in the tangles.
Keep Your Line Wet!!
