"FISHING WITH FRED" Oops! The Weather Changed The anglers were all set to enjoy a great tournament weekend last week along the gulf coast, until they saw the rains coming from the south and west. There were calls to the local landings checking out the water level, searches on the internet to find the latest change and even trips to the river to see for themselves just how bad it was going to be. Well it was bad enough, CJs tournament out of Cliffs landing on Tensaw was won with just over 10 pounds, second just over 9 and third just over 4 pounds. Many boats came in with only one 12 inch keeper. The water was stained and just out of its banks above the I-10 bridge in Mifflin. It was also coming through the back of Mifflin and Niggro Lakes. The fish that were caught were caught on worms, jigs, spinnerbaits and crank baits
not a real pattern, huh? The secret of the day was to make enough casts into places that hold fish until you aggravated them enough to make them pick it up, but be alert the strikes were very light and they would not hold on long.
Good luck, and keep your line wet.
