"FISHING WITH FRED"
Covering Tidal Waters And Impoundments
The Best Made Plans
Isn't it amazing how you can plan the perfect trip only to have it blow up in your face?
Our club had scheduled a March tournament on Lake Seminole, one of my favorite places to fish. I called some friends who live and fish the lake on a regular basis. The reports I got were all positive. Not only were fish being caught all over the lake but there were a number of 10+ fish reported on in weekly tournaments.
I had my plan, the right baits (my Ding-a-Ling), Rattlin Rogues, and spinner baits. The spots I knew and the ones I had been told were producing 'good fish'. I prefished on Friday, boated a 6 pounder and hooked a couple about 4. All in different spots.
The only problem was a 25-35 mph north wind and the fish had lockjaw! My partner had a great time fighting the front of the boat, he even found out what a great spray it makes when you take off with the trolling motor down. I was fortunate to have drawn a 20' Ranger to ride the waves in. It was impressive to see how well Rangers handle rough water.
All said and done a few people found a few fish, I had a good partner and great time even with the bad conditions. It is always good to get out and see what Mother Nature has in store,
but you can not always catch fish the way you plan.
Good luck
Fred Raby
