SMITH and KIRKLAND WIN
SOUTHERN BASS TRAIL at LAKE SEMINOLE

The Southern Bass Trail held it's June Tournament at Lake Seminole fishing out of Seminole Lodge in Sneads Fl. On a morning when the temperature was in the low 70's and skies were threatening rain, one would think that those Bass should really be bitin today. I was out on the water preparing for a Tournament I had the next day and saw several boats that set in the same spot for several hours so you know they were catching them. At weigh-in my suspicions were confirmed. As Bobby Smith and Johnny Kirkland were putting their boat on the trailer I ask them how they did, he said he thought they had about 21 pounds. At weigh-in he was almost 2 tenth of a pound off. Their weight topped the scales at 21.17 pounds and took first place money. The team of Carmen and Spike McLemore brought another fine limit to the scales that weighed 19.65 pounds and took the 2nd place money. With 18.52 pounds and lunker for the Tournament that weighed 6.03 lbs the team of Donald Brinson and Bill Dollar came in 3rd. James Fischer and Carl Straud with 16.24 lbs grabbed 4th place. Lake Seminole is certainly back as it was before the flood of 1994.
